I saw one of the blokes from Slick 46 (I forget his name) at the tattoo studio where we're subletting and he reckons he looked on the Wasted site and apparently they're playing (which was news to him so he says) so maybe there's a good chance Marching Orders could be playing as well. Personally I reckon it would be a travesty if Slick 46 get in and Marching Orders don't...It's not like the lads haven't payed their dues if you know what I mean..

QUOTE
In a recent update to the band's website, longtime Angelic Upstarts frontman Thomas Mensforth announced he was leaving the band. Mensi, as he's known to fans, founded the four piece in South Shields, North-East England in mid 1977. In all of the group's incarnations since, he's been the constant. It does however look like the Upstarts will continue on for at least the immediate future with Chris Wright filling vocal duties. From the statement:

"Where do I start ? I am resigning from the band, I don't have one particular reason, I have many. Some are very personal, others are not. My health has not been at it's best lately, then to cap it all, certain promoters accuse me of planning my sickness. Sometimes I feel as if I'm pissing against the wind. I'm pissed off with the moaners. I have lost the heart to do it.

For the shows that have been booked I will have my good friend and comrade, Chris Wright to stand in for me. I will say goodbye to my true fans by doing a couple of local shows. I will do these shows for a very minimal amount. I wont take any money personally, just expenses for rest of the lads. I will make it on a Saturday night and I will try to hire a place for the weekend, so that anyone who travels any distance can bring a sleeping bag and crash on the floor of the venue. That's if anyone gets any sleep as I want a damn good piss up. As soon as I am fit and well I will start looking for a suitable venue and give everyone as much notice as I can. Please give little Chrissy Wright your support.

I want to thank you all for your support. I have had 30 good years, met some ace people on the way and maybe when the statue of limitations runs out I can tell the full story. The band was a big part of my life and I loved it. It's just maybe we tired of each other.
Anyway, enough of this sentimental bollox."
    Your truly, Mensi
Sunderland till I die and anti-fascist till I die xx.

Deadset music will not be selling anymore tickets to Wasted after Thursday 24th August. This allows time for the tickets to be posted to you. If you are paying by money order please order no later than the 22nd August and Money Orders will need to be received by the 25th. (don't send money orders next day delivery either as we are just outside the guarenteed delivery area)

Also In Upstarts news... There isn't any yet. Chances are they will still be coming but with Chris the singer from Crashed out instead. Nothing is confirmed yet though, even though I have read lots of posts on various aussie forums 'the truth of the matter' from people who 'know for sure' or have 'had it confirmed' ... You know the people I mean... So don't beleve everything you hear.

On Beerzone news though...
I contacted Beerzone when all this Upstarts stuff happened and I started to get angry emails from people to make sure they were still on for 2nd September, and this was part of the reply

"...Please feel free to reply to people saying you have heard back from me and we promise 100% us and PTTB will be in your country to honour the arrangement, we may not be the Upstarts, but we are 100% committed to playing to the aussie skinheads, come what may..."

(and even though he says skinheads he means punks too!)

And thank fuck they aren't the Upstarts, Beerzone are the business! (not the band the business, but just as fuckin good!)

Hi all.

I have just gotten word back from the UK promotors of Wasted Australia letting me know that the Angelic Upstarts will be playing here in September. Mensi will not be coming, instead Chris Wright of Crashed out will be fronting the band. To find out why Mensi is not coming please read this statement on the Angelic Upstarts webpage - http://www.angelicupstarts.co.uk/news.htm

I know a lot of you will be very disappointed that Mensi is not coming, unfortunatly that is beyond anyones control except Mensi. I have heard really great things about Chris Wright. He sang in place of Mensi at the Blackpool Wasted just gone and apparently did a fantastic job. It wouldn't be easy for him to try and step into Mensi' shoes, so lets give them all our support. Crashed Out are a great band in their own right so I am sure Chris will do the Upstarts justice.

Beerzone and PTTB are also still coming, as I have read on a few forums that they have been rumoured to have pulled out! Gotta love the internet..
